Sage 100 2026 Is 64-Bit Only: What It Means for Your Current System

The 2026 release drops the 32-bit edition entirely — and retires version 2023 the day it ships. Here is what that means for your server, your workstations, and every add-on attached to your system.

Sage 100 2026 is a 64-bit-only release — there is no 32-bit edition to fall back on. And the day it ships, version 2023 retires. If your server, your workstations, or your add-ons are not ready, this will not be a routine upgrade. It will be a problem you discover in the middle of a conversion weekend.

The Clock Is Already Running

Sage supports the current version of Sage 100 plus the two prior releases. Version 2022 retired in April 2025 — no more program fixes, no more payroll tax tables. Version 2023 is next, and its retirement date is simply whenever 2026 ships. Our supported versions page shows exactly where your version stands. Add one more deadline: Microsoft ended Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025, and Sage 100 2026 drops Windows 10 verification — so the version upgrade, the Windows move, and the 64-bit check are really one project.

Where This Upgrade Actually Breaks

Your add-ons. EDI, payment processing, sales tax, shipping, warehouse tools — every vendor attached to your system has its own 2026 answer and its own timeline. Some will not be ready when you are.

Your machines. A proper readiness review runs six checks, and three of them need your server, not your workstation. Most businesses have never looked at any of them — which is precisely the risk.

Your jump size. Several versions behind? A single leap may not even be the right path. Whether your upgrade needs staging is a question to answer now, not mid-project — our version upgrade checklist post shows how wide that gap can get.

What Waiting Costs

An incompatible add-on found in October is a scheduling note. The same add-on found at go-live stops payroll, invoicing, and shipping until someone fixes it under pressure. Businesses on 2022 are already running with no fixes and no tax-table updates; 2023 users join them the day 2026 ships. Our year-end upgrade planning post covers why the planning window is narrower than it looks.
